About this filter
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is Ubisoft Quebec's open-world action-RPG set in Classical Greece, and its English voice track leans into salty, period-flavoured language — including Greek profanity such as "malaka" spoken phonetically throughout the English audio alongside the usual English swearing. For a lot of players that texture is part of the world, but not everyone wants to hear or read it. If you stream the game, play with family in the room, or simply prefer a cleaner experience without giving up the Misthios's full odyssey, this filter lets you keep your own legally-owned copy and quiet only the language you'd rather skip. It applies to the English version of the game and is fully reversible.
The filter works across both the spoken and written sides of the game. On the audio side, it silences 2,165 English voice clips that contain strong language — the F-word, the S-word, the B-word, the A-word, the D-word, vain religious oaths, and the Greek phonetic profanity heard in the English track — muting each flagged word at its exact timestamp while the surrounding speech plays untouched. That coverage spans 46 English-locale Wwise audio packages: 14 from the base game (including the separate Alexios and Kassandra voice banks) plus 32 across all 14 narrative DLC folders. On the text side, it masks 920 subtitle and dialogue entries (460 per forge across the game's two subtitle archives), replacing each flagged word with same-length asterisks. Context rules keep genuine deity references intact — "a god," "become a god," "your god" — while masking only vain exclamatory uses, which matters in a game set among the Greek pantheon.
The patch was built carefully and verified before release. Voice clips were located with word-level speech transcription so each mute lands on the offending word and nothing more, and the text edits were produced with a clean-room tool that rewrites the game's own subtitle archives directly. Before shipping, a frozen self-test confirmed all 48 edited files matched their expected results, and the operator confirmed the masking and mutes in an actual gameplay session. Everything else is left exactly as Ubisoft shipped it — the story, the voice acting, the music, combat, gameplay, and the open world are unchanged, non-English audio and subtitles are not touched, your save files are not modified, and timing and font rendering stay the same. The filter is English-only, runs against your own installed copy, and can be removed at any time to restore the originals.
An earlier manual drop-in download (pre-modified game files you copy into place yourself) remains available as an alternate download on the same NexusMods page.
What Was Changed
- Audio (2,165 voice clips): English VO clips containing the F-word, S-word, B-word, A-word, D-word, vain religious oaths, and the Greek phonetic profanity heard throughout the English audio track are silenced at the exact word timestamp. Surrounding speech is preserved; only the flagged word goes quiet. Covers 46 English-locale Wwise PCK files: 14 base-game PCKs (including gender-split Alexios and Kassandra player-VO banks and all title-update overlays) plus 32 DLC PCKs across all 14 narrative DLC folders.
- Text (920 entries, 460 per forge): English subtitle and dialogue string entries in DataPC.forge and DataPC_patch_01.forge are masked. Flagged words are replaced with same-length asterisks. Context rules preserve genuine deity references — a god, become a god, your god — while masking vain exclamatory uses of religious terms.
- English only. Other language audio and subtitle packages are untouched.
What Was NOT Changed
The story, voice performances, music, combat, gameplay, and open world are exactly as Ubisoft Quebec shipped them — only the flagged English words change. Non-English audio and subtitle packages are untouched, save files are not modified, and sentence structure, timing, and font rendering are unchanged.
