About this filter
Ghost Recon Breakpoint is Ubisoft Paris's open-world tactical shooter set on the fictional island of Auroa, built on the AnvilNext engine and released in 2019. Its squad chatter, mission briefings, and antagonist dialogue lean heavily on the salty register you would expect from a military-thriller setting, and that language carries through both the spoken voice-over and the on-screen subtitles. This filter exists for players who want to keep the tactical sandbox, the open island, and the full story intact while taking the harshest language out of it — parents who share a screen with younger players, streamers who need their broadcast to stay advertiser-friendly, and anyone who simply prefers a cleaner playthrough. It works only on your own installed copy of a game you already own.
The filter covers English voice-over and English on-screen text. On the audio side, 4,153 spoken profanity instances are silenced across 3,772 voice clips in the English voice bank: each flagged word drops to silence while the rest of the line and the original performance continue to play, and because clip length is preserved the timing of every line is unchanged. On the text side, 1,543 instances across 1,362 subtitle and on-screen text strings are masked with full-word asterisks, with no first-letter hint left behind. The masked categories are the F-word, the S-word, the B-word, the A-word, the D-word, and religious oaths. Milder language and the dialogue around the flagged words are left as written, so lines stay readable and the scenes still make sense.
The patch was built by working directly with the game's own file formats. The English voice is edited inside the game's Wwise audio package using a byte-preserving splice that keeps the audio container valid, and the English subtitles are rewritten inside the game's AnvilNext archive and recompressed with the game's own on-disk Oodle library. Every change was applied against a backup of the original files, with before-and-after file hashes recorded, and the result was confirmed in a live playthrough that booted, loaded, and played with both the edited audio and the edited text in place. Left completely untouched are the story, the missions, the voice performances, gameplay, saves and progression, the music and sound effects, and all non-English text and audio — the filter is English only. The installer backs up your original files first and includes a one-click restore.
What Was Changed
- English voice-over: 4,153 spoken profanity instances silenced across 3,772 voice clips in the English voice bank. Each flagged word drops to silence; the rest of the line and the performance play normally. Clip length is preserved, so timing is unchanged.
- English on-screen text: 1,543 instances across 1,362 subtitle and on-screen text strings masked with asterisks (full-word, no first-letter hint). Categories covered: the F-word, S-word, B-word, A-word, D-word, and religious oaths.
What Was NOT Changed
The story, the script, the missions, and the voice performances are exactly as Ubisoft shipped them — only the flagged words change. Violence, blood, drug references, and other mature themes are untouched. Music and sound effects are untouched. Gameplay, saves, and progression are not affected. Non-English text and audio are left exactly as shipped — the filter is English only.
