What Was Changed

  • English on-screen text: up to 141 censored strings in the game's text file — subtitles, item descriptions, and UI labels. Flagged words are replaced in place with same-length asterisks (e.g. the F-word becomes "****"); sentence structure, punctuation, and layout are unchanged.
  • English voice-over: up to 383 voice lines silenced across loose combat barks, streamed story dialogue, and character/enemy dialogue banks. Only the profane word in each line is muted; the rest of the line and the performance play back normally.
  • Choose what gets filtered: at install time you pick any mix of four categories — Strong, Medium, Mild, and Religious Oaths (god, hell, damn, and christ used as exclamations) — so the counts above are maximums, not fixed totals.
  • Mythology-aware: God of War's own in-world lore — the Norse pantheon, the Nine Realms, character and place names — is recognized and left alone. Only real-world-style profanity and blasphemy are censored, never the game's own world-building language.

What Was NOT Changed

The story, world, performances, and gameplay are exactly as Santa Monica Studio shipped them — only the flagged English words change. English only; other languages are left alone. Music, ambient sound, and non-dialogue audio are untouched. Saves, achievements, and progress are unaffected. No Sony or Santa Monica game files are included in the download; the installer re-creates the edits directly on your own installed copy.
