What Was Changed

  • Spoken dialogue: 72,207 profanity instances silenced across 36 audio banks (story dialogue, ambient and pedestrian speech, talk radio). Each flagged word drops to silence; the rest of the line plays at full length.
  • Written text: 11,117 profanity instances in subtitles and on-screen text, across 324 text files, replaced with **** (full-word, no first-letter hint).
  • Categories covered: the F-word, S-word, B-word, A-word, D-word, religious oaths, and racial slurs.

What Was NOT Changed

GTA V is rated Mature 17+ (ESRB M / PEGI 18) and this filter does not change that. It only reduces profanity — intense violence, drug use, sexual content, and strong adult themes are completely untouched. This is the same M-rated game with much less swearing, not a family-friendly or kid-safe version. Coverage is best-effort: GTA V contains an enormous amount of profanity, and a meaningful amount likely remains. The story, missions, voice performances, music, saves, achievements, and gameplay are exactly as Rockstar shipped them. Non-English text and audio are untouched. GTA Online is not affected.
